Our Purpose

Our Mission

The JCI Creative Young Entrepreneur Award (CYEA) was launched internationally in year 2005 by Junior Chamber International, the largest young person organisation in the world, to recognize, honour and celebrate exceptional young entrepreneurs and the role of creativity in their success.

  1. To honour celebrate Malaysia creative young entrepreneurs;

  2. Promote and support business creativity and new enterprise development among youth;

  3. Create interest in entrepreneurship among capable youth and encourage creativity / innovation;

  4. Promote the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

JCI CYEA offers young entrepreneurs a key to the door of international opportunities. Winners of JCI CYEA have the chance to network, exchange business ideas and explore business creativity with other winners worldwide. Recognition through JCI CYEA not only increases credibility of nominee's organisation, but also boosts creativity and innovation in the industry. This will not only benefit one organisation but will upgrade the reputation of the industry as a whole thus indirectly creating opportunities for other young entrepreneurs.

About JCI Malaysia

Junior Chamber International Malaysia

 

Junior Chamber International Malaysia (JCI Malaysia) is a National Organization affiliated to Junior Chamber International (JCI), a worldwide leadership development organization for young people aged 18 to 40 founded since 1915 in St Louis, US by Henry Giessenbier.  Currently there are 56 JCI local organizations affiliated with JCI Malaysia, located in various states of Malaysia.

The Junior Chamber movement was introduced to Malaysia (then the Federation of Malaysia) in 1954. Junior Chamber in Sarawak and Junior Chamber in Sabah were affiliated to Junior Chamber International in 1956 and in 1963 respectively. On 11th October 1975, Junior Chamber Malaysia was formed with the signing of a Merger Agreement between the three separate national organizations in Kuala Lumpur. A Protem Board of Directors under the chairmanship of JCI Senator V T Nathan, Past President of Kuala Lumpur Junior Chamber was founded. This Protem Board was appointed to look into the registration of the new organization to be known as Junior Chamber Malaysia.  In 1976 Junior Chamber Malaysia obtained temporary registration from the Registrar of Societies to operate. The 1st National Convention was held in 1976 itself in Kuala Lumpur. At this National Convention, JCI Senator George Chang was elected the First National President.

 

Some of the very famous JCI Alumni are Kofi Annan (UN Sec. Gen) , Prince Albert of Manaco, Dr. Lim Chong Eu (Former Chief Minister of Penang), Gerald R. Ford (38th President of US), William J. “Bill” Clinton (42nd President of US), KeizoObuchi (Former Prime Minister of Japan), and many more.


 

About JCIPJ

Junior Chamber International Petaling Jaya

 

JCI Petaling Jaya (JCI PJ), initiated in year 1980 by JCI Senator DJ Lourdes (Past President of JCI Bukit Mertajam) and the late JCI Senator Patrick Wong (Past President of JCI Ipoh), and extended under JCI Kuala Lumpur.  JCI PJ was officially registered under Registrar of Society on 21 April 1981 and installed its Charter President JCI Senator Felix Gong in September 1981, witnessed by the current Prime Minister of Malaysia, Y.A.B. Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak.  JCI PJ is an award winning local organization that is affiliated to JCI Malaysia.  JCI PJ has won the Most Outstanding Local Organization in Malaysia 7 years consecutively from year 2009-2015.  Currently, JCI PJ is registered under the Registrar of Youth and Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia.


JCI PJ is managed by its Board of Directors, who is elected annually and contributes voluntarily.  Members are given leadership opportunities, and practices “1 Year to Lead” concept.  Past activities conducted include International Cultural Festival, Speed Business Networking, Entrepreneur Forum, Corporate Consulting Experience, Personal Development Training, and numerous Leukemia Trust Fund-raising projects.  JCI PJ has also been hosting the JCI Creative Young Entrepreneur Award (JCI CYEA) since 2009. Through this award, JCI PJ has built strong relations with various ministries, youth organizations and media in Malaysia.  


JCI PJ, being a founding member of Commonwealth Asia Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (CAAYE and now known as CAYE-ASIA), has co-hosted the 1st CAAYE Interim Summit and hosted the 4th CAYE-ASIA Young Entrepreneur Summit from 30 Oct – 1 Nov 2015 in Putrajaya. CAAYE is a network of organizations focused on youth entrepreneurship development from 8 countries (Bangladesh, Brunei, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Pakistan) and 1 observer nation (Nepal).  CAAYE was formed by the mandate given from the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and is now recognized as a best-practice network by the Commonwealth Secretariat.
